A Memory Stick was first introduced by Sony in 1998 and is from of removable memory card. The Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo's can handle much great storage capacities and are far faster than the old Memory Stick Duo. The Memory Stick PRO Duo can now been purchased in 16gb, 32 and even 64gb sizes.
PRO Duo Mark2:
The PRO Duo M2 Stick was released in late 2008 and was designed to be suitable with the latest high definition Camcorders or the AVCHD format as it is better known. The all new Memory Stick PRO Duo M2 has a theoretical storage limit of 2tb and read / write speeds far in excess of the standard PRO Duo Cards. The PRO Duo M2 Sticks are already available in 32gb and 64gb sizes with higher capacity duo for release shortly.
PRO HG Duo:
The PRO HG Duo Stick where first introduced in 2006 by Sony and Sandisk and they where designed to deal with the heavy data transfer rates required in professional media circles such as high quality photography and video. The transfer rate achieved by the Memory Stick PRO HG Duo is over three times greater than the standard Memory Stick PRO format.
Micro M2:
Sony joined forces with SanDisk in 2006 to produce a new Memory Stick called the Memory Stick Micro M2. The Micro M2 Stick is the smallest of the Memory Stick Duo family and measures around a quarter of the size of the standard Memory Stick but still has storage capacity of 16gb and above.
